Are you ready for pumpkins, haunted houses, and trick-or-treating? We certainly are! There’s no shortage of activities around the area, including here in the Halloween Capital of Texas. Collin County Judge Chris Hill gave Celina the title back in 2021, and the city lives up to its name with the annual Beware of the Square event Downtown!
Celina: Beware of the Square
Bring out your zombies, Jedis, and princesses for a day of spooky and sweet fun! You’ll have plenty to do, see, and munch on. There’s trick-or-treating and a Kids Zone for the munchkins. Everyone can enjoy the magic show and personalize pumpkins for free at the painting booth. Then there’s the spooky part — prepare to be thrilled in the Escape Rooms. We heard that’s where all the zombies hang out! Enter the Haunted House at your own risk because the Celina Theatre Dept. corralled all the local monsters. Bring a pal to hold on to, and stick around for the Thriller flash mob and an evening showing of Hotel Transylvania. There’ll also be vendor booths and food and drink stands. Keep up with event news on the Facebook page.
Oh, yeah, and they want your blood! They need 23 pints and are prepared to take them from you at the Battle of the Badges Blood Drive that day. You can stop by the booth to save a life during the spooky fun.
Gunter: Preston Trail Farms
If you’re looking for the perfect pumpkins, take a short drive to Preston Trail Farms in Gunter. Known as the Big Orange Pumpkin Farm, this is one of the biggest patches in DFW and was named a top patch by the Dallas Morning News GuideLive.com. Not only can you choose the perfect pumpkin, but you can make an entire day of your trip! You can take hay rides, traverse the hay maze, enjoy the petting zoo, and have lunch in the cafe.
Dallas: Dallas Arboretum
Take a trip to the Dallas Arboretum to frolic in an expansive outdoor village, also named a top DFW pumpkin patch. Your kids will love this year’s theme “It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown!” The Peanuts Gang will be there in the village and maze. Be prepared to stay the whole day — just seeing the 100,000 pumpkins, gourds, and squash will take a while. There are also daily special programs, tastings, classes, and entertainment. Check out the schedule to choose your day.
State Fair of Texas
And finally, is it even Fall without a trip to the State Fair of Texas? Ever seen a Soap Bubble Circus? We haven’t either! You must see this Guinness World Record-breaker that features a tightrope-walking snowman and an exploding volcano. And who doesn’t love dinosaurs? The fair has 10 life-sized dinos! If it’s still hot, the Acrobuffos water bomb show will cool you off and make you laugh. Those are just a sampling, so check out the full schedule to plan your trip.
